The SSAT (Secondary Schools Admission Test) in a private school entrance exam. It is administered by the Secondary Schools Admission Test Board.
There are three versions of the SSAT.
- The Elementary SSAT is administered to students currently in Grades 3 and 4 who are applying for entry to Grades 4 and 5.
- The Middle Level SSAT is for students current in Grades 5-7 applying for entry to Grades 6-8.
- The Upper Level SSAT is administered to students currently in Grades 8-11 who are applying for entry to Grades 8-11.
The SSAT is designed to be an ability rather than achievement test. The test design is intended to provide results that will differentiate between student ability independent of prior school record.
