Age: 4-10 Pages: 96, perforated Includes set of 7 plastic tangrams Tangrams are ancient Chinese geometric puzzles consisting of seven pieces, each of which has three or four sides. Since the shapes' sides are proportional, tangrams are used to explore many aspects of geometry. Children are drawn to these puzzles to explore and analyze geometric shapes, dimensions and spatial relationships. The activities are divided into three sections:
- Cover Up where children select tangrams and place them on top of the outlines on each page.
- Imagination where the area to be filled with tangram blocks is part of an illustration (these are much more visually challenging)
- Shapes from Shapes where geometric shapes are made with tangrams.
Suitable for pre-readers. Instructions for each exercise are indicated using icons rather than words. This 96-page book includes one 7-piece plastic tangram and more than 75 activity sheets organized by level of difficulty.
