This is not a book to be given to children. Each page contains both questions and a suggested starting point for responses. It's a great title to keep in the car to keep the discussion going or at the dinner table.

Nifty Fifty inquiries are almost entirely conceptual. The purpose is not to ask the child about one specific object but rather about the attributes that objects with that name have. What makes a sock a sock?, for example.

Encourage creative meandering as your child attempts to formulate their answer and you, and they, will get insights into the process of creative and critical thinking.

The intent of this title is to raise children's awareness of the attributes of objects and sensitize their awareness while sharpening their analytical skills. While not possible in all cases many of the questions can be answered without relying too heavily on prior knowledge.

Title works as well with a class of children as with one.
