Standardized testing is used throughout the United States to provide students and teachers with information. Different tests have different objectives. Some standardized tests are used throughout the United States (for example even though the Iowa Test of Basic Skills has a state name in its title it is widely used). Other tests are state specific.
I'm frequently contacted by parents and asked for recommendations for their child who will be taking the GATE test. G.A.T.E. is an acronym standing for gifted and talented education. The test (or tests) that is given to determine whether or not a child qualifies for a G.A.T.E. program depends on the school district. I advise parents to contact their local school district to find out what test their child will be taking.
